Through his life, many people have come and gone. It was almost like everything he loved left him— a comforting hug was hard to come by. If only Hiro knew that about him, maybe he wouldn't think it being too bizarre.
His parents died when he was young, his grandmother soon following. That was it. He was last of his lineage and it was his duty to do everything— to survive and live and become a samurai like his father.. but he was alone while doing it until he met the rest of them.

Now, Katsura knows Hiro isn't going to go batshit crazy and be set on destroying the world so it can feel the same pain his friend felt, but in this place, he knows friends can change. He knows people— they can grow distant even if they are physically still here.
Hiro, though.
Katsura had invested so much trust and like for the little guy— he probably didn't appreciate him verbally as much as he should. He feels bad for not communicating with them, but what was he to do? He felt guilt for what had happened. He felt embarrassed for hardly getting anywhere through their hard work and effort.
And now, he sported something permanent to remind of his failure. ]

While I respect him greatly, I'm not sure if I agree with him.

[Look he's used to the role of the younger brother, this isn't unusual to him. But he's honestly surprised at how upfront Katsura is being about this and even when he breaks the hug he looks up at him curiously.]

Then that's even more of a reason I should probably thank Elizabeth. Maybe a nice fruit basket or something. [He's not entirely serious but it's clear that he is grateful that Eli was looking out for Katsura. He breathes in deeply, rubbing his eyes then.]
